On Buying A Book

tumblr_mfz42qMXtu1rmxkcho1_500  I really try my best to read books as many as I can. I am always in constant hunger for books. But with the unexpected circumstances hurdling themselves in front of me, my time allotted for reading-to-feel-heaven is always taken away.

Aside from my other hobbies, bookhunting, as I love to call it, is one of the favorite things I do on weekends. With a sideline of boyhunting. Killing two birds with one stone. Sometimes, I go home carrying loads of books. Sometimes, I go home with nothing.

Here are the things I consider on buying a book.

  1. Author. Of course, most of us consider this as the main criterion in choosing a book. Those authors that have gained a reputation, or those I just love, I will continue loving them by patronizing their books. And they never really fail me.
  2. Price. Those awesome books are usually the one with a very high price. When I have spare money, I would go straight to National BookStore. But if I am tight in budget, I would go to Booksale. In the latter, you can find real treasure sometimes if you have the patience to drown yourself in the sea of books, and of cheapest price you could ever imagine.
  3. Cover. Because sometimes I judge the unpopular books by its cover, I would buy those that have a fanciful cover design. For authors who aren’t making a name yet in the writing/publishing business, they should make sure to have their books got a beautiful cover design.

You can really spot great buys on book sales (of course if you have the patience to look for them) ! I once bought one that cost me Php 10.00, too. For cheap buys, I’d usually go to Chapters and Pages or Booksale. You can buy novels for as low as Php 60.00 there! But if you’re looking for a wider variety of titles, nothing beats NBS or Fully Booked.

I love book sales at libraries! I have a book problem as well, I also judge many by their covers. I feel as though if we weren’t supposed to, there wouldn’t be a covers at all!

I love books, i just don’t find the time to read them… get succumb by laziness. I would ask my friends what books they would recommend. Most of them read really fast.

When I want to have books, I look for them online. Most of the books I have are ebooks. I download them for free…. Yes, even the classic ones.

for paperbacks, i go to Borders. Or the thrift shop in our church where i buy them cheap.
